TV
Program
The TV presented a talk show where they analyzed people's public performances.
According
to the expert being interviewed, the most common mistake in the TV
performances was the speaker leaning to the table and thus coming
too close to the camera. The obvious problem with this is that the
head appears to be too big, as is the case with George W. Bush.
The
program adviced against tilting your head too much to left or right.
Especially men should be wary of this, since then they would probably
fail to look masculine. On the other hand, the head could be bent
on either side for the sake of special effect in the cover of the
magazines, for example. In this context they mentioned the actor Hugh
Grant; he had repeatedly appeared in glossy magazines with his head
considerably tilted.
Women
didn't have so many restrictions on not keeping their head straight.
As a general rule they mentioned that women could tilt their head
as much as the bones in their neck would allow.
The
expert said that Anna-Liisa Tilus, for instance, was a typical example
of a TV presenter who constantly had to be careful about leaning too
much forward or not tilting her head too much. Then again the issue
was complicated by the fact that she also worked as a part-time model,
and this had allowed her to tilt her head in numerous ladies' magazines
(even if these magazines could not be mentioned so as not to advertize
them).
If
there was one benefit in tilting one's head, they said, it was the
fact that this way you could hide your double chin. According to the
program this was the reason why Tilus after all these years could
still appear in the cover of the magazines - despite her massive double
chin.
