Organic
Wines
A note, held in its place with a magnet, appeared in the refrigerator
door. I glanced at the text. This seemed like a notification.
'What's
that?', I asked.
'It's a communication by the housing company,' Sari said.
'Communication of what?'
'The possibility to order organic wines very cheaply.'
'So it's an advertisement then.'
'No, not really. The board of directors has decided to set up an organic
wine club. Anyone can join. The purpose is to favour organic food
production and to provide the opportunity to acquire high-quality
wines more cheaply than those sold by the local stores.'
'How cheap?'
'Two euros per bottle.'
Sari
said that particularly the ladies downstairs were eagerly involved
in the project. They thought a decent wine storage was one of the
first things the housing company should take care of. They had already
ordered a comprehensive collection of wines.
The
list of incoming products was posted in the refrigerator door. I scanned
the list and noticed that there were at least twelve different wines.
Next to each item was the price and a brief description. All wines
appeared to be of very high quality.
'Have
you bought any bottles yet?' I asked.
'Yes, two. One of them is open. Do you want a taste?'
-----------------------------------------------------------
I
had a glass of red wine in one hand and a half-empty glass of water
in one hand. I took a sip. At the same time I was sitting in a sled,
sliding down the hill on a snowy road.
I
had to avoid hitting pedestrians who were walking ahead of me. I had
no clothes on, so I tried to raise my feet to get some protection
and to hide behind my knees. My nakedness didn't embarrass me so much,
but to be seen sliding down a hill with half-empty glasses did. It
was also difficult to control the sled while my hands were tied in
this way.
The
speed was not high, but I drifted on one side of the road and, just
before the intersection, ended up with a thumping sound in a ditch.
