Fly
Practice Zone
The
factory had been emptied to make it easier for us to practice. We
all wanted to learn how to fly.
I walked a few steps and made an effort to rise up. The mind had to
be focused on flying so that with a concentrated attempt you could
set yourself in the air. This was difficult. But I was anxious to
learn.
To
my amazement I managed to fly a dozen metres or so. From the air I
could see that the others marked my success. I don't know how exactly
I did it, but the experience was great. I wanted to try again.
Everyone
struggled hard to get the skill under control. Some were frustrated
at the constant failures, but still they continued trying.
After
a few minutes I, too, felt the frustration. No matter how hard I tried,
all I managed to do was to jump around. It was difficult to say whether
any real gliding was involved or whether I simply skipped onwards.
In any case I continued trying. The sensation of flying was so incredible
that it was worth trying again despite the fact that there was no
guarantee of success.
