Thin
ice
Two
ladies in their early twenties were walking along the frozen river.
Even if they didn't weigh much, it was still dangerous to walk on
ice this time of year. Particularly, as it was raining, there was
water on the surface of the ice.
Not
surprisingly, the ice cracked below their feet and the girls fell
into the water. The ice was very slippery, and the water cold, so
it was not easy to get out.
Without
much hesitation I jumped into the water. As I helped them to reach
the river bank I became aware of their untidy appearance. Surely their
clothes were dripping wet and their make-up was running down their
cheeks, but their black-dyed hair was so tangled that I couldn't help
wondering...
It
was not particularly cold. Yet I removed my wet jacket and trousers
to dry. When I turned back, the women were gone. And when I turned
in the other direction, my clothes had disappeared as well.
I
should have guessed it. Thieves!
I
walked along the river in mere underpants.
