Reality
I
knew I was dreaming. I was not awake.
The
surroundings didn't please me. The place was unstable, far too restless.
I said to myself, I can step into another reality. There were people
around me. They nodded for approval.
My
wish was granted. I found myself in another world. This was better.
The sky was clear. The trees were frosty. The horizon was hidden behind
blue mountains.
The
place was new to me. I didn't recognize the plants. The colours were
blue and white. The country side was hilly and pleasant. There were
no signs of habitation, except for a small road going through the
forest.
The
gravel made cracking noice beneath my feet as I walked along the path.
This all seemed very real, nothing hazy or indefinite about it: the
road was there, the trees were solid, their bark was coarse and irregular,
full of details. It seemed like this place had always existed. It
was hard to believe that this was all the makings of my imagination.
Indeed, what if this wasn't a dream after all?
I
decided to perform a test. If this was all an illusion, then the normal
laws of physics would't apply. If I wanted, I could create a dragon
in front of me.
I
made an effort and focused my thoughts.
Nothing
happened. There was the road and the trees as before. Then I looked
behind... There, along the path, swayed a twenty-metre monster staring
at me. Sure, this was a dream.
But
even so, how could I stop that creature now walking towards me? The
beast was quite a brute: an enormous body of a dragon with a human
head. I tried to think the beast away. But I couldn't concentrate
while such a horror was about to engulf me.
